While the news of the legendary actor Om Puri's untimely demise at the age of 66 is still very ripe, we can't help but be mesmerised by his innate talent as a performer and entertainer.
His film career started way back in 1972 and he is a National Award winner as well as a recipient of the fourth highest civilian award in India - Padma Shri.

1. Ardh Satya -
Ardh Satya is considered as one of the best cop movies ever made in Bollywood. Om's portrayal as good-cop Anant who gets embroiled in the nasty world of corruption was widely appreciated and his character's journey is shown tremendously in the movie. He was bestowed with the National Film Award for Best Actor.
2. Aakrosh -
In Aakrosh, Om's character is best remembered for his expressions. His voice is heard only twice in the film but his eyes do all the talking as it evokes the sense of pain, suffering and sadness he goes through the entirety of the movie. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
3. Arohan -
Directed by Shyam Benegal, Arohan won Puri his first National Film Award for Best Actor. It chronicles around oppressed farmers and their fight for justice.
4. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro -
Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro was a satire on political corruption in India and Puri played the character of a builder named Ahuja. His comic timing in the movie was really appreciated. Known for his dramas, it was like a breath of fresh air to see him in a comedy film with a powerful message.
5. Ghayal -
Although Sunny Deol was the primary character in Ghayal, Om Puri impressed as ACP Joe D'Souza. He definitely has a knack for playing cops. He was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
