Musically, 2016 was a fabulous year with films like Airlift, Kapoor & Sons, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Sultan, Baar Baar Dekho among others boasting of great music. As the year is coming to a closure, we listed down the popular male and female singers who have ruled 2016.

1. Arijit Singh - 2016 has truly been Arijit's year with most of the popular chartbusters falling under his kitty. From Soch Na Sake, Dil Cheez Tujhe De Di, Yeh Fitoor Mera, Bolna, Salamat, Phir Kabhi to ADHM Title Track, Channa Mereya, The Breakup Song, Tu Hi Hai, Ae Zindagi Gale Laga Le and Nashe Si Chadh Gayi, Arijit has sung them all.

2. Palak Muchhal - Known for her soothing voice, Palak recorded two songs this year and both were hits. While one was Kaun Tujhe from M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story the other song was Hua Hai Aaj Pehli Baar from Sanam Re.

3. Armaan Malik - After Arijit, if there is any singer who won hearts then it surely is Armaan. He has songs like Sau Aasman, Bol Do Na Zara, Sab Tera, Buddhu Sa Mann to his credit this year.

4. Neeti Mohan - The songstress churned out two popular songs this year, one being Kheench Meri Photo and the other one being Sau Aasmaan.

5. Badshah - If there is one rapper who is being roped in by most music composers, then it is definitely Badshah. Songs like Kar Gayi Chull, Let's Nacho, Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai and Kala Chashma ruled the music charts this year and they all have one name in common - Badshah!

6. Jonita Gandhi - Known for her cute looks and powerful voice, Jonita impressed all with songs like Gilehriyaan, The Breakup Song and Sau Tarah Ke in 2016.

7. Amaal Mallik - While Amaal managed to churn out some extraordinary compositions for films like Airlift, Sarbjit, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kapoor & Sons among others, he also sang some unforgettable numbers like Soch Na Sake and Buddhu Sa Mann.

8. Neha Kakkar - If you enjoyed dancing to Kar Gayi Chull and Kala Chashma, then you ought to know that Neha Kakkar is the voice behind the songs. The lovely girl literally made everyone groove to her tunes and has the best party numbers of 2016 to her credit!

9. Ankit Tiwari - The singer cum music composer had a good year with two songs Dil Cheez Tujhe Dedi and Sanam Teri Kasam doing well on the music charts.

10. Jasleen Royal - The petite girl who became an overnight sensation with her song in Khoobsurat, crooned tracks like Nachde Ne Saare and Love You Zindagi, giving music lovers two more songs to 2016's ultimate playlist.

11. Vishal Dadlani - Vishal enthralled the music lovers with songs like Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai and Ud Da Punjab and needless to say, the songs became an instant favourite with the audience.

12. Shilpa Rao - While Bulleya is majorly remembered for Amit Mishra's vocals, Shilpa Rao too lent her voice and sang for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The song is still in our playlist!

13. Nakash Aziz - Though Nakash didn't have many releases this year but his two songs - Jabra Fan and The Breakup Song ruled the music charts for quite sometime.

14. Atif Aslam - The Pakistani singer has won hearts with many songs in the past and this year he has Tere Sang Yaara to his credit. The song has been on loop for many and surely is one of the favourites.

15. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan - When it is Rahat Fateh Ali Khan singing, you are bound to fall in love. And when the song is Jag Ghoomeya, then it will instantly be your favourite.
