Are you a travel freak? Then this day is for you. Today is World Tourism Day and for the uninitiated, it is celebrated by the UNWTO every year on September 27 since 1980. The theme this year is "Tourism for All". Bollywood never stays behind when it comes to movies based on travel. There are movies which will urge you to pack your bags and simply explore the country. On this occasion, we list you 5 Bollywood movies that will inspire you to travel in India.

Highway

This Imtiaz Ali movie went beyond the social message. More than a love story, it was about the sense of freedom that travel can introduce a person to. Highway stars Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The film beautifully reels the remote Sangla valley in Himachal Pradesh and drives you over the Aru valley and Chandanwari near Pahalgam. The filmmaker has shot the roads of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. The breathtaking views will surely get you going for a road trip instantly!

Dil Chahta Hai

A cult movie, Dil Chahta Hai makes you fall in love with the rustic charm of Goa. The film not only covers beauty of beaches, but also the feeling of liberation which comes rushing in when you are on the road. We all were transported to the world of Aakash, Sid and Sameer. The peppy rhythm got us heady and the next thing we all wanted to do was to go on a trip the 'Dil Chahta Hai' way.

Chennai Express

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Chennai Express gives the audience several landscapes to admire. Shot lavishly with aerial views, the majestic Dudhsagar Falls in Goa are a sight to behold. This waterfall got immense popularity after the film. Besides Dudhsagar Falls in Goa, Munnar in Kerela was also the backdrop of major portions of the film. The song Tera Rasta Main Chhodoon Na in the film took us to explore the beauty of Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

After Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani hit the screens in 2013, everyone wanted to travel like Ranbir Kapoor's character did in the film. Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) and Naina (Deepika Padukone) took us through some fascinating locales of Gulmarg's snow-clad mountains. Directed by Ayaan Mukherji, the film also shows landmark heritage sites such as Hadimba Temple in Manali, Udaipur's City Palace, and Chittorgarh Fort.

Jab We Met

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan start their journey from the bustling city of Mumbai on a train. And then you see them snake through roads of Manali and Shimla. Thereafter, it also takes you to the rural aroma of Bhatinda, which is one of the oldest cities in Punjab. Some of the scenes were also shot in Manali Castle, which is one of the popular landmarks in Manali.

Are you still waiting? Then don't. Just pack your bags and get going!
