Today is the 84th birth anniversary of the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra. When we think of Yashji, we can picture the romance shown in the exotic locations around the globe with the oozing chemistry between the actors. Apart from producing several blockbuster films, he has directed amazing 22 films over his career span. In these films, Yashji has shown us different shares of love which eventually gave him the title of 'King Of Romance'.

On his birthday, let's take a look at the romanticism shown through the eyes of Yash Chopra.

Kabhi Kabhie

This film had an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Raakhee, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. The legendary filmmaker showed the importance of each character with full justice and impressed the audience with his film-making skills. This 1976 release gave us the glimpse of how love can be so complicated. It also made us realise that even after many years love sustains and old flames do remains as friends forever.

Silsila

This 1981 film was a complicated love story, which showed faith is the true epitome of love. Silsila, which had an amazing cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar and Rekha, made us believe that love is blind. The film showed a love triangle between Big B, his wife Jaya and rumoured lover Rekha on the big screen. This shocked the audience but the film went on to become a cult classic.

Chandni

The look donned by beautiful actress Sridevi in Chandni became a trend instantly in the year 1989. Moreover, the love story and chemistry between Rishi and Sridevi was a visual treat to the audience. Even Vinod Khanna's character who falls in love with Sridevi after she got separated from Rishi is also palpable on screen. With this film, we learnt that "If the love is meant for you, it will come back to you no matter what."

Lamhe

Lamhe, which released in 1991, was way ahead of it's time and as per reports, Yashji considers this film as his most favourite. The love story between an aging Anil Kapoor and young Sridevi was difficult to accept by the audience, but it eventually featured among the Top Ten Romantic Movies of 100 years. The film showed that true love doesn't have any age bar.

Darr

Shah Rukh Khan has played the role of an obsessive lover or a stalker in many of his films. But, his role in Darr is one of the terrific characters, he have ever played on screen. SRK played the role of Rahul who is obsessed over Kiran (Juhi Chawla). But, she is engaged to get married to Sunil (Sunny Deol). This does not stop Rahul from haunting and stalking Kiran. Darr released in the year 1993 showed us how love can be dangerous.

Dil Toh Pagal Hai

When the film starts we felt that SRK and Karisma Kapoor are a couple in this film. But, eventually Lolo is friend-zoned by him as he always considered her as his best friend. Then comes Madhuri Dixit, with her entry we realised that when it comes to love, someone somewhere has always been made for you. The sizzling chemistry between King Khan and Madhuri is too romantic to handle in this 1997 release.

Veer Zaara

This cross-border romance between an Indian guy and Pakistani girl is one of the purest love stories ever shown on the 70mm. Played by SRK and Preity Zinta, the story is stretched for about 22 years. A small meet between Veer (SRK) and Zaara (Preity) turned out to be an undying relationship of love forever. This film proved that no matter what, love has no boundaries and can be united if it's true to death.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan

The story goes on the same line of the title of the film. Samar (SRK) and Meera (Katrina Kaif) are crazy in love with each other. Meera has a habit of making a barter deal with god for something she desires. Due to this, she sacrifices her love that is Samar when he meets with an accident because she feels she is the reason behind it. This leaves Samar disheartened and takes a challenge that he will always play with death to prove that their love can never be the cause of his death. Jab Tak Hai Jaan ultimately showed that love can never defy death!

Happy Birthday, Yash Chopra!
