Made and received with the delectable sweetness of Barfi, the movie today completes four years and the sweetness continues to linger on in our hearts.

Directed by Anurag Basu, the movie had Ranbir Kapoor (Barfi), Priyanka Chopra (Jhilmil) and Ileana DCruz (Shruti) in the leading roles.

Apart from introducing us to one of the best acting talents in the industry, the movie touched our souls and taught us some very important life lessons.

So be it four or forty, here’s why Barfi will continue to entertain us with same freshness for the years to come:

1.Highlights the true essence of love

Centered on the wonderful bond a deaf and mute boy (Ranbir) share with an autistic girl (Priyanka), the movie brings out the rightful essence of love- a couple filling in for each other’s faults and disabilities.

2. The tracks so soul!

Phir le aya dil, Mai kya karu, Ala Barfi and others, the obsession with the music the movie gave us is beyond normal. The movie also gave new heights to the ultra-talented Arijit Singh with his music career.

3. It made us laugh till our stomachs hurt

Remember the bank robbery scene or the kidnapping sequence or Barfi’s escape plan?! With the bang on comedy timings even for normal situations, Barfi leaves us in splits.  The use of slapstick and the Chaplinesque humor is not only perfect but comes with freshness as well.

4. It left even the cold hearts soggy eyed

Packed with powerful emotional sequences Barfi hits you hard. Be it the first failed love or the empathy you feel when Barfi’s father dies or the end when Barfi and Jhilmil die hand in hand, the movie paints emotions beautifully.

5. Refrains from overindulgence with disability

Barfi narrates the extraordinary romantic tale of a very “normal” deaf and mute boy who can still communicate, love and has above average thinking abilities. It is not even for a second that we feel the sympathy for his disability.
