It has been two years since Priyanka’s Mary Kom power punched its way to the heart of the audience. The biopic, which chronicles the struggles and success story of ace Indian woman boxer Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom was not only inspiring at many levels but has also left an indelible mark in the mind of the viewers.

Directed by Omung Kumar, the movie captures the real colours of a woman boxer’s life and brings all the different roles she topped.

Here is why the movie carved a niche for itself and remains fresh in our hearts even after these years:

1.Roots for women empowerment and gender equality

The sequences that show Mary Kom throwing punches at a boy and whistling back at a boy are not just empowering but also underline the power that resides within a woman.

2.Music and songs that reverberate

The songs in the movie in addition to being soulful and melodic also throw light on crucial aspects of the story line.Sukoon Mila, particularly, is one soothing number from the film that resonates with the idea of romance till date.

3. Intense and catchy dialogues

Priyanka’s powerful dialogues like “Kabhi Kisiko itna bhe mat darao ki darr he khatam ho jaye” and “abhi tak to sirf fighter hai, tum sikhaega to boxer bhe ban jaega” certainly ignites the feisty in us.

4. Inspiring depiction of Motherhood

The movie’s depiction of how Mary juggled between boxing and motherhood post marriage is, in fact, one of the most impactful sequences. Not only does she prove to be a good mother but also wins a medal for the country.

5.The epic win in the end

What Mary Kom, the movie did the best was that it made us relive the historical victory of the boxer. The moment where she accepts the medal is not simply heart-warming but is a motivating sequence as well and digs out the patriot in us.
