Damn with Nepotism; Bollywood bring some dignity to competition
If you’ve seen Ajay Devgn’s tweet against Kamaal Rashid Khan (who? Erm...Deshdrohi), a basic reality has surely been drilled into your heads. Bollywood has no idea about healthy competition. Box office clashes are made out to be wars with personal agendas and stars fight with fierce vendetta. So what if two fine films – Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – are releasing on the same day. Is it necessary that Karan Johar and Ranbir Kapoor stand with guns in their hands, aiming at Kajol and Ajay Devgn? So when a certain Kumar Mangat Pathak calls an inconsequential Kamaal R Khan, he indeed is giving the man more merit than he has earned. KRK, as he is infamously known, has no claim to fame. He alleges that Karan Johar has paid him 25 lacs to spread the negativity against Shivaay and create a positive buzz about ADHM. In the digital age we live in, do social media savvy filmmakers like KJo not know that they can easily pay digital marketing agencies if they want to influence public perception. I am certain that 25 lacs is a figure either botched by KRK or I, daresay, a publicity gimmick by well-wishers of the Devgns.
Dear filmmaker/actors, have you no faith in your work? You really need to pay people to say that you have done good work. How is it different from buying awards or even worse, paid news that you all so vehemently stand up against? Dear Mr Pathak, even if a frequent Twitter offender is spewing venom about your film, is there a need to call him, threaten him or try to bribe him? It doesn’t show very highly of you. And finally, Mr Johar, someone who knows you closely wasn’t emphatic enough in standing up for you. Even if there is a chance you might’ve bribed KRK to spread a negative word on Shivaay and boost your film. Our answer to you is simple – ADHM is the return of one of India’s most loved filmmakers, a man an entire generation has unanimously loved, you made us cry, laugh and love. Stand tall, Johar. And in case, you want to waste some of your money, a dinner with Ajay and Kajol will be a better bet!
