The first half of 2016 is already gone and we saw many unusual names coming together on the celluloid. While last year it was Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone in Piku and Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo; this year we had Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in Airlift, Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in Ki and Ka & Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma in Sultan

Now, the second half of the year too will see many actors teaming up to make an unconventional, unlikely onscreen jodis. Here are a few fresh pairs that we are eagerly waiting to watch onscreen in the second half of 2016 (as per the film's release dates):

Jacqueline Fernandez-Varun Dhawan: Dishoom

This young, good-looking & fun-loving couple is already a crowd pleaser, owing to the fandom seen during the film's promotions. With the film releasing on July 29, they will be the first ones in second half to wow the audience with their peppy chemistry.

Pooja Hegde-Hrithik Roshan: Mohenjo Daro

Greek god teamed up with a gorgeous model equals to a breathtakingly stunning pair. HR is paired opposite a debutante (Pooja) for the first time in the film based on Indus Valley civilization. The film is due for an August 12 release.

Ileana D'Cruz-Akshay Kumar: Rustom

Set in the backdrop of the 1950s, the film stars Khiladi Kumar in the titular role. Playing the role of a Navy officer, Akki will share screen space with Ileana for the first time. Inspired by the real-life story of the infamous Nanavati murder case, set in the 1950s, the film will clash with Mohenjo Daro on August 12 at the ticket window.

Sidharth Malhotra-Katrina Kaif: Baar Baar Dekho

Making a scintillating pair, Sid-Kat is already scorching up the screen with their rocking chemistry in the song's teasers and poster. Reportedly, the film is a time travel drama and revolves around the journey of a couple from the age of 18 to 60. Bwoy, we are eagerly waiting for this one. It releases on September 9.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Ranbir Kapoor: Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Karan Johar is returning to direction after three years and the film has been in the news since its inception. Aishwarya-Ranbir is supposedly sharing some sizzling intimate scenes and liplocks in the film. Aishwarya will be romancing the much younger Kapoor lad, and this out of the box pairing is on our bucket list to see! The film is slated for a big Diwali release, 0ctober 28.

Shraddha Kapoor-Farhan Akhtar: Rock On 2

The sequel is returning after a hiatus of 8 long years and the musical pairing will be a treat to watch! On an added note, the news of Shraddha-Farhan dating has been doing the rounds since the film's shooting started. But what makes this more interesting is, the music backdrop of the film, which is said to be inspired by the North-East region of the country. The musical sojourn will be seen on the big screen on November 11.

Alia Bhatt- Shah Rukh Khan: Dear Zindagi

This unexpected pairing has received thumbs up from all quarters since the first look of the film is out. Nothing can beat the uniqueness of this pair, where the 50-year-old Khan will not be seen romancing a 23-year-old Ms Bhatt! Just a blooper, SRK is playing Alia's therapist in the film and will be seen in an extended cameo role. Instead of SRK, Alia will be romancing these four men: Kunal Kapoor, Ali Zafar, Aditya Roy Kapur and Angad Bedi. The Gauri Shinde film will release on November 25.

Vaani Kapoor- Ranveer Singh: Befikre

These two have been on a kissing marathon in all the posters of the film released till date. Director Aditya Chopra is holding the fort after 2008 and it's his first without SRK in the lead. This uber-romantic film is set in the exotic locales of Paris and Ranveer-Vaani's sensuous liplocks are already a hot topic in tinsel-ville galleria. The romantic saga will make its way to the big screen on December 9.

Sakshi Tanwar-Aamir Khan: Dangal

Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari has pulled off a casting coup of sorts- with TV's one of the most-acclaimed faces, Sakshi is starring opposite Mr Perfectionist in the film. Glorifying women empowerment and female wrestlers, Geeta-Babita Phogat's Olympic journey from a small town in Haryana, the film is eagerly awaited by Aamir's fans who has gone through major physical transformations for the film. It is set for a December 25 release.
