Sultan had created enough buzz much before its release and it didn't came much as a surprise when the Salman Khan starrer had a bumper opening at the ticket window this Eid. Despite the festival of Eid was delayed by a day, Sultan didn't disappoint the trade pundits and opened to housefull shows almost across the nation's theaters. On the first day of its opening the film grossed INR Rs 36,54 crore, but it failed to break the opening day collection record of SRK's Happy New Year (2014) which had minted INR Rs 44.97 crores on its Day 1.

However, Sultan broke another record by becoming Salman's biggest opener film on BO, surpassing Bajrangi Bhaijaan's stupendous success. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the BO figures with his tweet on Saturday, “And #Sultan hits a CENTURY… Also crosses *first 3 days* biz of #BajrangiBhaijaan, which is Salman’s BIGGEST OPENER… INCREDIBLE! #Sultan Wed 36.54 cr, Thu 37.30 cr, Fri 31.50 cr. Total: Rs 105.34 cr. India biz… Will continue its WINNING STREAK on Sat + Sun. Salman Khan’s BGGEST OPENERS… #Sultan 105.34 cr [Wed+Thu+Fri], #BajrangiBhaijaan 102.60 cr [Fri+Sat+Sun], #PRDP 101.47 cr [Thu+Fri+Sat].”

But is goes without saying, where Salman's Sultan is busy setting new milestones at the BO, and breaking previous records, it couldn't manage to beat King Khan’s 3 day collection record for Happy New Year (INR Rs 108.80 crore). But ain't a cause of worry as the film is cruising it's way to box-office top spot, without much glitches.

As they say, you cannnot get all in life, and henceforth, Sultan missed breaking this one record.

Maybe, next Eid!

Inshallah...
