It was 16 years ago, when Kareena Kapoor Khan started her journey in Bollywood with J.P. Dutta’s Refugee and the actress has not looked back since then. Bebo has starred in many critically and commercially successful movies. Here’s a look back at her career with some of her most memorable films:

Refugee

We start off the list with Kareena’s debut film, Refugee which was directed by J.P. Dutta. The movie was a moderate success and the 5th highest-grossing film of 2000. Kareena won a Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actress.

Jab We Met

Kareena’s portrayal of Geet was loved by critics and masses alike and her chemistry with Shahid Kapoor was undeniable.  She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

K3G was Kareena’s breakout role and her character Poo, had a major impact on the younger generation. She was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Omkara

Omkara was an Indian adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello. Although underrated, Kareena excelled in her performance as Dolly (Desdemona)

Asoka

Starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena's role as a warrior princess was  highly appreciated. She was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Chameli

At the time when actresses were skeptical about choosing roles that shed a bad light on them, Kareena starred in Chameli where she essayed the role of a prostitute.

Yuva

With power-packed ensemble cast of Rani Mukerji, Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena made her own mark in Mani Ratnam’s Yuva.

Dev

Kareena’s performance in Dev was subdued and mature, unlike the lively and modern characters that she is known to portray. She won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics).

Ki & Ka

Kareena essayed the role of a modern-day independent woman who breaks stereotypes. The movie was a success and her performance was lauded by all quarters.

Udta Punjab

Kareena’s recent release was amid controversies, but the end justified the means. She did sincere justice to her role along with Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh.
