It was the year 2000, when 2 newcomers born to Royal Families of Bollywood, starred in a movie called Refugee and went on to become bonafide stars that we know and love today. They were Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor. Abhishek Bachchan’s career has seen many ups and downs but that has not stopped our Junior Bachchan. After the first few years of struggling, it was Yuva that got Abhishek into the limelight. Here are some of the most memorable performances in AB’s illustrious 16-year career.

Refugee: We start the list with his debut film, Refugee which was directed by J.P. Dutta. The film was a moderate success and was the 5th highest grossing film of 2000. He was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actor.

Guru: A movie that was loosely based on Dhirubhai Ambani’s life, and along with his now wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, AB gave one of his best performances to date. He was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

Yuva: After a string of flops, it was Mani Ratnam’s Yuva that kickstarted Abhishek’s career. The critics loved him and he even won his first Fimfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Paa: Although it was Amitabh Bachchan’s title character that stole the show, AB as the supporting actor did justice to his role. The film was critically acclaimed and fared well at the box office too.

Dhoom Trilogy: ACP Dixit and his side-kick Ali are extremely popular characters after whom 3 movies were made. Abhishek plays the angry, rugged cop to a tee and the audiences loved him for it. Dhoom 3 ranks among the highest-grossing Hindi films.

Bluffmaster!: This is one con-man that we love. With a stellar cast including Ritesh Deshmukh and Priyanka Chopra, this is one fun movie you do not want to miss!

Sarkar: Sarkar was one of those movies where the supporting actor stole the show i.e. Junior Bachchan himself. He received the Filmfare, IIFA and Zee Cine Awards for Best Supporting Actor for the movie.

Bunty Aur Babli: Along with his Babli Rani Mukerji, AB gave one of the biggest hits of 2005. He was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actor. The song Kajra Re from the movie saw the trio of Amitabh, Abhishek and Ash and the song is a craze, even today.

Bol Bachchan: It was the first movie of Abhishek that entered the 100 crore club. The audience loved his comedic role and after this movie, Abhishek went on to star in a string of comedy movies.

Housefull 3: The third installment of the Housefull series, the movie has already crossed the 100 crore mark and is currently the second highest-grossing movie of 2016 so far, after Airlift.

We have loved Junior Bachchan through his ups and downs for 16 years, and we will continue to adore him.
