Birthday Special: How Anushka Sharma Carved a Niche for herself in Bollywood!

A careful look at Anushka Sharma’s career graph reveals that during her nearly eight-year long association with the competitive world of Bollywood, the fast-rising star has given a good account of her abilities as a performer and thereby quite successfully carved a niche for herself in the industry. It was in 2008 that Anushka, who was merely 20 years of age back then, began her tryst with Bollywood when the romantic-comedy Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi arrived in theatres amidst high expectations. And well it was quite the perfect launch vehicle. Directed by Aditya Chopra, it saw her hold her own against the iconic Shah Rukh Khan. Moreover, her role in the film too was a challenging one and helped her explore her range as an artist. All of this helped Anushka earn a Filmfare nomination for her very first film itself.

A Risk Taker:

Anushka is someone who clearly has no qualms when it comes to taking risks or making unconventional career choices. This became clear when in 2015 she turned producer with a dark and gritty drama titled NH 10. Moreover, she also starred in it. Needless to say, this was a rather dangerous move as NH 10 was truly devoid of feel-good romantic numbers, visual locales, and other quintessential B-Town film ingredients, which go a long way in enhancing a movie’s commercial viability.
