Five Point Someone – 3 Idiots

Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel, Five Point Someone, was picked up by Rajkumar Hirani and translated into 3 Idiots. The movie revolved around 3 college boys, Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R madhavan and was a super duper hit.

2 States – 2 States

Another Chetan Bhagat’s novel, 2 States was made into a movie. The movie starring Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor did well at the box office and their chemistry was highly appreciated. As the name suggests, the book is a complicated love story between a guy and a girl who hail from different Indian states.

Othello – Omkara

Well, one can’t forget William Shakespeare when it comes to storytelling. Vishal Bhardwaj certainly hasn’t. One of his most appreciated movies has been Omkara, which was inspired from Shakespeare’s Othello. Said delivered one of his best performances as Langda Tyagi in Omkara.

Half Girlfriend – Half Girlfriend

Chetan Bhagat seems to be a favorite with Bollywood. His latest novel, Half Girlfriend, is being adopted into a movie starring Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. We are sure looking forward to Arjun and Shraddha’s chemistry in this one!

Hamlet – Haider

Undoubtedly Shahid Kapoor delivered his career’s best performance in Haider. The movie directed by Vishal Bhardwaj was heavily inspired by William Shakespeare’s novel, Hamlet. Even Tabu, who played Shahid’s mother in the movie, win accolades for her performance.

The Last Leaf – Lootera

Lootera, starring Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh, was partly based on O.Henry’s short story, The Last Leaf. We won’t be lying when we say that it was among Ranveer and Sonakshi’s best performances till date.

Mumbai Avengers – Phantom

Phantom starring Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif was inspired from Hussain Zaidi's book Mumbai Avengers on the aftermath of 26/11 Mumbai attacks. He even helped Kabir Khan write the screenplay of the film.

Great Expectations – Fitoor

Charles Dickens’ famous novel, Great Expectations, was the inspirations behind Fitoor. The movie starring Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Tabu was directed by Abhishek Kapoor. Tabu as usual won our hearts with her performance.

Emma – Aisha

Sonam Kapoor’s Aisha was based on Jane Austen’s novel Emma. Abhay Deol also played an important role in the movie and the songs were a complete win-win!

The Blue Umbrella – The Blue Umbrella

The Blue Umbrella, stories by Ruskin Bond, inspired Vishal Bharadwaj to make a movie with the same name. Pankaj Kapoor played the lead role in the movie along with Shreya Sharma. The movie was a favourite with the children.
