No matter how much we claim to be advanced, evolved and mature, our way to look at women from stern patriarchal outlook has hardly changed much. The graph of crime against women has seen an upward growth and from the rural, under-developed outset, it has set its roots deep in our urban society, where the self-proclaimed educated lot has its base.

Be it eve-teasing on streets or gender biasness in workplaces, the society hasn’t been ‘fair’ to the fairer sex, courtesy male-dominated stereotypical opinions.

To shed light on the grave issue, Vivek Agnihotri along with T-Series, have launched a campaign titled #IAmBuddha and it is upsetting in many ways. The campaign is unveiled to promote Agnihotri’s film Buddha in a Traffic Jam, starring Anupam Kher, Arunoday Singh, Mahie Gill and Pallavi Joshi.

This powerful video, which is a part of the film’s campaign, has gone viral on the social networking sites and it undoubtedly leaves a lasting impression on our thought process. The one and a half minute clip features young and independent woman Rupali Singhal , who narrates her episode of being molested by two guys in a lift. The tale of the girl, who bagged the seed funds for her start-up, enters the elevator, where she finds these two ‘typical’ males, who molest her and call her a sl*t. And, the incident leaves her in a state of shock and dismay. Her disconcerting expressions, as she narrates her story, leave you unsettled and with many questions indeed!

However, the courageous girl doesn’t get stuck to the ordeal and fights back with her confidence, as what she has, the perpetrators may never have it! We salute the spirit of the women and womanhood!

More power to you, Rupali!
