8 Hushed Weddings Of Bollywood That Took Us Completely By Surprise!
Nothing is more beautiful than a nuptial tie. It is personal and sacred, and the ceremony is special enough to be shared with near and dear ones. Perhaps that is why our celebs wish to ditch, what they call, the 'media circus' and marry in secrecy, away from the prying eyes of the press and in the presence of only near and dear ones.
After Preity Zinta tied the knot with LA businessman Gene Goodenough in Los Angeles earlier this week, Urmila Matondkar got hitched with model Mohsin Akhtar Mir at a private ceremony at her home in Mumbai today.
Here are some other celebs who were secretive of their special day, and who took us completely by surprise!
1. Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar Mir

Urmila Mantondkar known for her stellar roles in films like Rangeela, Satya, Pyaar tune Kya Kiya and many more- tied the knot today (March 3rd) with Kashmiri businessman & model - Mohsin Akhtar Mir in a quiet wedding ceremony. Unlike the typical star studded weddings of Bollywood stars, the couple kept it simple and private. A close friend of the Rangeela star, designer Manish Malhotra was the only Bollywood personality present at the wedding.
2. Preity Zinta and Gene Goodenough

Preity and Gene tied the knot in a small and private ceremony in Los Angeles earlier this week. Her good friends Sussanne Khan and Surily Goel were also present for the big day. The wedding took place as per Hindu traditions and was planned superbly by Preity's mom.
3. Rani Mukherji and Aditya Chopra

When Queen of hearts, Rani Mukherji became Mrs. Chopra in a discreet ceremony last year, it really took all by surprise. In an official statement issued by Yash Raj Studio it was revealed, "We are happy to announce that Mr. Aditya Chopra and Ms. Rani Mukerji got married last night on April 21, in Italy. The wedding was a very small intimate affair with very close family and friends."
4. John Abraham and Priya Runchal

The year 2014 began on a startling note as a tweet by Bollywood hunkie, John Abraham was waiting for his fans. It read, “Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed 2014! May this year bring you love, good fortune and joy. Love, John and Priya Abraham.” John got hitched to his then girlfriend, Priya in a close-knit ceremony in December 2013. But he only broke the news of his marriage on social networks when the calendar changed. When he was taken off the market, many hearts were broken.
5. Sanjay Dutt and Manyata

Sanjay Dutt tied the knot with Manyata in February 2008 at the Taj Exotica in Goa under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. It was also a low key ceremony with a few close friends as witnesses. They later solemnized their marriage vows according to Hindu rites in Mumbai. The second ceremony too, was a simple one which took place at Manyata's friend's home. The wedding took place a month after Sanjay completed his divorce proceedings with ex-wife Rhea Pillai.
This wedding was a surprise for fans too, but were very happy for Sanjay all the same!
6. Kabir Bedi and Parveen Dusanj

Kabir Bedi married Parveen Dusanj on January 15 in an intimate ceremony. While this is Kabir's fourth marriage, for Parveen it is the first one. The news not only came as a surprise for fans but also for Kabir's daughter Pooja, who was not invited to the wedding. The father-daughter duo had an ugly row on Twitter over this. Things are still rough for Kabir and Pooja, while there seems to be good news for the newly weds. Buzz is that the stork will be visiting them soon with a little one to add to their happiness.
7. Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan

Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan tied the knot in a private ceremony on February 9. The couple got married in the presence of their immediate families in the idyllic Seychelles Islands. Kunal and Naina were dating for two years before they got engaged last year. The couple was introduced to each other by Naina's cousin Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
This was a destination wedding too, and took everyone by surprise!
8. Minnisha Lamba and Ryan Tham

Minnisha Lamba and Ryan Tham registered their marriage in July last year, which was followed by a wedding lunch with friends and family. It was Ryan’s first cousin Pooja Bedi who flashed the news on Twitter. She wrote, “Welcome to the family @Minissha_Lamba !!!! Hope u and My brother Ryan have a crazy fun happy loving amazing life ahead!”
