The tall and talented Abhishek Bachchan turns a year older today. The only son of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan is known for his eccentric movie choices, humbleness, pranks, and of course, his height. Junior Bachchan has seen his share of ups and down in his professional career, but his steady fan following and imposing performances have managed to impress the critics time and again. Despite being quite vocal about things, Abhi is often regarded as a family man, who loves his daughter Aaradhya dearly. Though, the 40-year-old actor is busy in the birthday celebration with his whole family in Maldives today, we dig out some interesting, yet lesser known facts about the actor for you.

1. The real name of Abhishek Bachchan is Abhishek Srivastav. His grandfather, who was a poet, used Harivansh Rai ‘Bachchan’ as his pen name. And since then, Bachchan became more than just a surname for the Srivastavs.

2. In his birth certificate, he is named as ‘Baba Bachchan’.

3. During his childhood, Abhishek suffered from dyslexia, a learning disability.

4. To feel the same pain of ear piercing as his daughter, Abhishek Bachchan also got his ears pierced.

5. In Karan Johar’s Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham that stars his parents Amitabh and Jaya, Abhishek had shot for a brief appearance. However, at the final stages of editing, he asked Karan to remove his sequences from the film.

6. He debuted with Refugee in 2000, but his first hit film was Dhoom, which released in 2004!

7. At one of parties thrown for the newly-wed Abhi-Aish, one of the gatecrashers was none other than pop artist Ed Sheeran.
