One of the most iconic and epic sagas of the ’90s was Subhash Ghai’s Ram Lakhan. The movie starred Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia in the lead and was one of the most loved films of those times. It released on January 27, 1989, and it went on to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Even years later, the stars of the film are remembered as the characters in the film. Anil Kapoor played the role of Lakhan, a spoilt brat loved of his elder brother played by Jackie Shroff who essays the role of a law-abiding police officer.
They both are born to Sharda played by Rakhee who sees her husband being killed by Bhishamber and Bhima. She vows to avenge the death of her husband through her sons. However, one son is a police officer, while the other one ends up teaming up with their father’s killers and gets into trouble. Ram signifies good while Lakhan signifies Bad and how tables turn in the end, is what makes this movie totally epic. Ram’s love and his mother’s vow to avenge their father’s death, affects Lakhan deeply and he undergoes a change of heart. The villains, Bhishamber and Bhanu lose and the story ends on a happy note.
