15 Years of Koi Mil Gaya: Not just Hrithik Roshan but these 5 characters also still rule our hearts

If Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai was the stepping stone for Hrithik Roshan to venture into the world of Bollywood then Koi... Mil Gaya made a bonafide star out of the handsome actor. With the genius marvel that is Rakesh Roshan, the movie ventured into untested waters and focused on science fiction and aliens. The movie was also backed by an impressive cast including Rekha, Preity Zinta, Prem Chopra, Rajat Bedi, Johnny Lever and a then young South actress Hansika Motwani.

Koi... Mil Gaya- a story based on a friendship between Hrithik's character Rohit and Jadoo, a friendly alien with a heart of gold just like Rohit. Tangled between this is a beautiful love story between Rohit and Nisha (played by Preity), a mother-son bond and Rohit's friendship with kids younger to him. In the movie, Hrithik plays a character who is intellectually disabled and your heart years and feels for this character.

However, it was not only Hrithik's brilliant portrayal of Rohit that won us over. We list down five other characters from the film who stole the spotlight as well:

Jadoo

Amongst the most lovable aliens of all time, Jadoo will pull at your heartstrings from the get-go. The lovable creature strikes an everlasting friendship with Rohit and helps him when no one else would. Towards the end, he makes you cry but with no spoilers, alls well that ends well. 

Nisha

Nisha, who is played by the bubbly Preity, is a ray of sunshine and we now know why Rohit fell so hard for her, the way he did. Her unabashed personality and treating everyone equally is something we don't see nowadays.

Sonia Mehra

Sonia Mehra (played by Rekha) is Rohit's loving mother who is there by her son's side through thick and thin. Who could forget the heartbreaking scene when Sonia continuously slaps Rohit?!

The Kids

Rohit's gang is an essential part of Koi... Mil Gaya as they play a significant role in his journey. Just like Sonia and Nisha, the gang is by Rohit's side through it all and they gave us 90's and 00's kids' friendship goals.

Chelaram Sukhwani

Johnny Lever will always steal the spotlight no matter how big or small his role is in the movie. Same is the case in Koi... Mil Gaya in which Johnny plays Chelaram, who is the comedic relief in the movie and in spite of yelling at Rohit and his gang, has a soft corner for them.

The film went on to become a franchise with Krrish and Krrish 3 which later went on to become even bigger hits. Krrish also gave India its first official superhero.
