Helen Richardson Khan aka Helen is amongst the Bollywood divas, whose dancing skills were unmatchable. The aura, expressions and overall beauty of the actress could rival any current generation star, period. Born on November 21, 1938, Helen was born in Rangoon, Burma to an Anglo Indian father George Desmier and a Burmese mother. Helen has a brother and a sister named Roger and Jennifer. An interesting anecdote is that Helen and her family trecked to Mumbai from Burma in 1943 to escape from the Japanese occupation.
Helen's big break came in Bollywood in the year 1958, when the 19-year-old performed what is now a cult classic song Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu (1958) from Howrah Bridge. Who can forget some of her most iconic numbers like Yeh Mera Dil from Don (1978) and Piya Tu Ab To Aaja from Caravan (1971). It was in 1965 when Helen was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Gumnaam in the Best Supporting Actress award category. In 1979, Helen won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for Lahu Ke Do Rang. In 2009, Helen was honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.

When it comes to her personal life, Helen is married to Salman Khan's father Salim Khan. She shares a very amicable relationship with her step-children and is a part of all the family festivities. Helen and Salman also worked together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam as she had a guest appearance.
