Deepika Padukone Ranveer Singh Wedding: Italians speaking Konkani and Hindi at the DeepVeer wedding

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are officially man and wife and yesterday, the couple released two official pictures on their social media channels- one from the Konkani wedding and the other from the Sindhi ceremony.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s wedding is breaking the internet. Like the zillion fans of DeepVeer, we too were waiting with bated breath for the pictures of the newlywed and the minute Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh posted their wedding pictures on social media, internet has been gushing all over them, First, the Padmavaat couple got married in a four-hour long Konkani-Brahmin ritual, and a day later, Deepika and Ranveer exchanged vows according to the Anand Karaj ceremony. But do you know what was common in both these days? Well, it was Deepika and Ranveer’s stunning bride and groom look.

While Day 1 of the DeepVeer wedding followed the Konkani rituals, Day 2 followed all the traditional Sindhi rituals. The wedding ceremony, known as Anand Karaj in Sikh, included a makeshift Gurudwara at the Villa Del Balbianello so much so that a priest who was flown from Amritsar for the ceremony. As reported, the wedding was a lavish affair. Right from the delicious food to the beautiful décor, everything was, like they say, on fleek during the wedding. For the Konkani wedding, as reported, the ladkiwale were dressed in traditional South Indian attire and while Deepika wore a gold, ivory and saffron saree by Sabyasachi Mukherjee paired with a heavy choker and mathapatti, Ranveer was wearing a traditional white kurta and mundu (dhoti). While the cuisine included a lavish Mangalorean feast and food was served in the traditional banana leaves, what was noteworthy is that the Italian staff at the wedding was too dressed in traditional South Indian clothes. Not just this, according to a report in Times of India, the Italian staff was fully trained in Hindi and Konkani and the staff was seen greeting the guests at the wedding in Hindi and Konkani. Also, the Italian service staff was fully trained with the names of the Indian dishes on the menu. Wow, we say!


On the brides special demand, a special filter coffee was flown all the way from Bengaluru to Italy. Yes, since Deepika is very fond of filter coffee, the welcome drink for the wedding was filter coffee. It doesn’t stop here because a South Indian Chef was also brought in from Karnataka for DeepVeer wedding because you see, it is not every day that stars like Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh get married. As for the Sindhi ceremony, it had a lavish buffet for the guests at the ceremony- the menu included popular Sindhi delicacies like dal pakwan, sindhi kadhi-chawal, sev barfi and others. For the sindhi wedding nuptials, Deepika looked resplendent was wearing a red lehenga by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, which she teamed it up with an elaborate Nathani, maang tikka and kaleerein.

After the couple left for Italy, the wedding celebrations kick-started with a host of pre-wedding ceremonies like mehendi and sangeet. For all those who don’t know, Deepika and Ranveer started dating each other on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. After their dreamy wedding in Italy, the duo will be hosting two receptions- one in Bengaluru and one in Mumbai. The one in Bengaluru is on November 21 at The Leela Palace and the one in Mumbai is on November 28 at Grand Hyatt.
