Dear Eonni: A BLINK from the Philippines reveals how BLACKPINK helped her tackle loneliness and make friends

BLACKPINK has been lighting up the sky for the past few years, thanks to their addictive tunes and especially the members' colourful, vibrant personalities. Lisa, Jisoo, Rosé and Jennie have truly managed to win hearts in such a short span of time and their world dominance is just the beginning. It comes as no surprise that there are millions and millions of BLACKPINK fans, who calls themselves BLINKS.

Today's heartwarming letter in our Dear Eonni series has been penned by Felly Arreza from the Philippines to BLACKPINK. Read her letter below:

Dear eonnis,

I really wanted to write this letter to you since then but I never had the opportunity to do so maybe because I'm too afraid to do it but this time I will really do it. I've been a blink since the day I heard your song called "As If It's Your Last" that my cousin introduced me. Since the day I heard that song I did a little research about the artists that sang that song hehehe. As I did my research I discovered that the 4 of you had such unique talents and features, and that's the day I entered the world of K-pop. You were the first K-pop Girl group that melted my heart because of your music. I could say that I was surprisingly amazed by a foreign musician.

Back then when I didn't know about BLACKPINK, I was a very a shy girl. I never get to talk with anyone and I neither had friends at school even if I had such intelligence (not to boast) because I knew that if I talk to others I will just embarrass myself because of my weird ways, so when I had a hard time I just keep it inside instead of letting it out on someone, I can't talk about it with my parents because my Mom was working abroad and I haven't heard about my father since the day I was born, so I was with my grandparents but I can't talk about it with them either because they were too busy to make a living. My insecurities back then held me like a captive and just kept me quite. Even at the age of 10 I had faced many struggles and loneliness. But not until the day that I knew you, the day that I discovered about you. You were one of the brightest and prettiest star that ever shine in my universe. You made me realise that letting it all out can ease the pain and can make me feel better. I started to make friends and it seems that they were a fan of you too. I also discovered that I have potential in singing but I was too shy to share it but you also made me realise that you're all successful because of your talents and it's a no doubt that you've been very successful, so I also started sharing my talents by singing in the school programs and in the church. You made me chase my dreams and face my biggest fears. Little did I know that I will become one of the blinks all over the world. Every day I keep encouraging myself to do my best to also inspire others like you did. I, a 14 year old girl from the Philippines is proudly considering myself as one of the blinks that you've inspired and encouraged to do what's best every single day.
