DAY6's Sungjin announces surprise military enlistment via a Vlive broadcast leaving fans shocked
In a Vlive broadcast titled 'Salute', Sungjin shocked fans that he will be enlisting in the military today.
If there is one thing K Pop fans dread the most, it is military enlistment and what's worse, when it happens all of a sudden. On March 8, My Day (fans of Day6) woke up to the shocking news of Day6's leader and main vocalist, Sungjin's military enlistment news. Fans were taken aback by this sudden news and took to SNS platforms to express their shock.
On March 8, Sungjin held a V-Live broadcast and revealed that he was on his way to the military training centre where he would begin his military service. He appeared with a buzz cut and named the broadcast, “Salute!” In the V-Live broadcast, he assured My Day that their new album was already complete and that this decision had been made a month ago. It was his decision to keep the news of his military enlistment as private as possible. Fans, tuned into his last live stream wished him the best of luck as they promised to wait for his return.
Sungjin, along with Jae, has been on hiatus from group activities with DAY6 since May 2020. Last month, it was confirmed that DAY6 will be making their comeback as a full group, and it was reported that the album was being planned for release in April. Meanwhile, DAY6's members posted heartfelt messages on SNS platforms to wish Sungjin love and luck for his tenure in the military.
