It's been a busy few days for BTS ARMY courtesy of their idols setting the nights alight with BTS Week on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Besides taking part in Dance Your Feelings with Jimmy Fallon and giving a stellar Black Swan Performance, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook also sat down for a candid interview with their favourite talk show host.
Fallon kickstarted their conversation by talking about how two years back on their debut Tonight Show appearance, Suga had confessed that BTS' dream was to go to the Grammys, which they eventually did. Jimmy then predicted that BTS would win a Grammy next year while RM shared how the members grew up watching the prestigious award show, giving a shout out to Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, TI, Kanye West and MIA's epic 2009 performance. "Winning a Grammy in such difficult times could give greater hopes and dreams to a lot of people. Especially our ARMY and Jimmy," Namjoon added.
Talking about BTS' success with the historic No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100, Yoongi confessed that the boys couldn't believe their eyes when they saw the chart while the members kept gawking, "Is it real?" Talking about how BTS wasn't originally going to release Dynamite before choosing to do so, J-Hope explained, "People around the world are going through a difficult time because of the pandemic. We also felt discouraged by the situation. So, we took on a new challenge which was Dynamite. This project was not only for us but also for our fans, who we wanted to energise and give joy to during this difficult period."
About their seventh anniversary celebrations, V revealed that the boys had to rehearse for Bang Bang Con: The Live and while they celebrated with champagne, they also called in the night early as the concert took place a day after their big anniversary. On how they stay connected with ARMY during quarantine, Jin admitted that they're not sure when they will get to meet their fans face-to-face but are trying their best to still be in touch through social media.
Fallon also asked BTS for details on their upcoming album BE to which Jimin Fallon, we mean Jimin revealed, "We poured in the emotions that we feel now, such as joy and sorrow, into this album. There are a lot of good songs as good as Dynamite, so we hope that they can all make it onto the Hot 100 chart. Please look forward to it!"
Jimmy also asked the members to share what they were like in their high school days. RM confessed that he was nerd who was into studying just as much as loved listening to rap music, especially Eminem and Nas. When V's turn came, Taehyung shared, "Me and Jimin went to high school together. I was always the one who slept in and was late for school, while Jimin was a diligent student. Jimin always woke me up, 'Taehyung, wake up!'" While Fallon and Jin called Jimin a good boy which got Baby Mochi to clap for himself, TaeTae quipped that he too was a good boy. But, Jin and Namjoon joked that he was a bad boy. ChimChim continued, "I was an exemplary student. Since I was in high school, I wanted to become a singer, so I left everything behind and came to Seoul. I did my best in everything and took on challenges, so my high school days were quite tough." When V told his '95 bestie to reveal what they would do together, Jimin added, "We often went out to eat delicious food together."
Jin revealed that he didn't stand out much during his high school days and was the typical quiet student who liked goofing around with his friends. The Moon singer added that he doesn't have an outstanding memory about his high school years. For Suga, the 27-year-old rapper quipped how there is always someone in school who is bad at studies. Yoongi confessed that he wasn't attached to school and also had a part-time job back then. While his attendance was good, the Daechwita rapper wasn't into schoolwork that much. While Suga also got the 'bad boy' tag like V, for J-Hope, the Chicken Noodle Soup rapper revealed how he once performed at his school festival and since then he loved being a performer. While RM called his 94' line friend as the "popular guy" Suga said it was equivalent to prom parties. "That's how you dreamed of becoming a singer," Jimin added which Hobi agreed to.
Jungkook recalled how he was already living with his bandmates during his high school days. "All of us gathered for both my entrance and graduation ceremony because it was after our debut." Yoongi and Jin pitched in saying how they raised him up while V stated, "You can't live without me," which had Jimin laughing. "I already debuted back then, so our members were always there with me throughout my high school years."
"I bought him food," Jin proudly proclaimed while V chimed in, "I was in charge of his meals." Jin's shocked expression at Taehyung was priceless.
