BTS, IU, BLACKPINK & ATEEZ reign supreme on Gaon Monthly and Weekly charts

It is that time of the month when Gaon charts hand out their monthly and weekly report cards, assessing how well Korean artists have fared with their latest releases. For those uninitiated, The Gaon Music Chart tabulates the weekly popularity of songs or albums in South Korea in relation to other artists. It is produced by the Korea Music Content Association and sponsored by South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with an aim to create a national chart for South Korea similar to the Billboard charts of the United States and the Oricon charts of Japan.

Gaon Music Chart is divided into multiple categories. The important categories include Album, Overall Digital Chart, Download Chart, Streaming Chart and Social Chart. According to their latest rankings, BTS topped the physical album chart for the month of February with their latest album BE: Essential Edition. BE: Essential Edition also received an official triple million certification from Gaon this month. ATEEZ topped the physical album chart for the week of February 28 to March 6 with their new mini-album, ZERO: FEVER Part.2, which debuted at No 1. SHINee stayed strong at the number 2 spot with their latest comeback, Don't Call Me.

IU, who is all set to release her comeback album, LILAC on March 25, achieved a double crown for February after topping the overall digital chart and the streaming chart with her latest hit Celebrity. BTS’s long-running hit Dynamite held onto its spot at No 3. BLACKPINK continued to top Gaon’s Social Chart 2.0 for the 10th consecutive month, while BTS held onto their spot at No 2.

Congratulations to all the artists for their successful rankings!
