Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif’s Zero finally hit the screens yesterday and has got mixed reactions. The performances by the lead actors have been appreciated, but it’s the story that had loopholes. Many fans and critics have mentioned that the second part of the movie falls completely flat. Despite mixed reviews, the movie has witnessed huge numbers on Day 1. Zero raked in Rs 20.14 crores on its opening day. Trade analysts had also expected the movie to earn around Rs 20-25 crores on the first day.
Shah Rukh's last release Jab Harry Met Sejal earned Rs 15.25 crores on its first day. Zero has been made on a massive budget, but we are yet to see how the movie will fare in its first weekend. SRK’s movie Happy New Year created history when it minted Rs 44.97 crores on its very opening day. It is not easy to surpass these numbers. SRK plays the role of a dwarf for the first time in his extensive career spanning 25 years. It was a risky movie, but SRK has attempted it.
Zero might get some benefit from the Christmas Holiday on Tuesday. Going by the reviews that are pouring on the internet, it’s a little tricky situation. But numbers do tell a different story. It is SRK’s charm that drew the audience to the theatres on the first day of its release.
Yesterday, there was news of Zero becoming a victim of online piracy as some fake accounts on Twitter have leaked a few scenes from the movie.
Interestingly, the movie boasts of special appearances by Sridevi, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Karisma Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Abhay Deol, and R Madhavan.
