Toilet-Ek Prem Katha First Week Collection: Akshay Kumar's film is inching close to 100 crore

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha released in theatres this Friday and had been doing well at the box office. The film is keeping a steady pace at the ticket windows and is now inching close to INR 100 crore.
According to the trade site, the film has earned INR 94 crore and going by the production figures, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is standing tall at INR 96.05 crore at the ticket windows.
Considering the positive word of mouth, Toilet Ek Prem Katha is likely to set the cash registers ringing over the next few days. It will be interesting to see how much the film mints in total.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was made on a budget of INR 18-22 crore. The movie deals with the menace of open defecation and is based on a real life incident wherein a woman left her husband after finding out that there was no toilet in their house.
The movie has been helmed by Shree Narayan Singh. This is the first time Akshay collaborated with Bhumi.
Earlier, talking about the issue of open defecation, Akshay said, "Kids are the ones who are most affected due to open defecation as they are so vulnerable to diseases. Through my movie, I am urging each Indian household to build toilets to keep their children healthy and happy," while adding that "I am glad to join Shiva who has himself been a behavioural change agent and kids' favourite whiz kid to spread my message and together drive change."
