Toilet- Ek Prem Katha Box Office Report: Akshay Kumar's film does wonders at the ticket windows on Day 2
Here's how Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet Ek Prem Katha fared on the day 2 of its release.
Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha released in theatres this Friday and is doing well at the box office. The film earned INR 17 crore on day 2 which was Saturday making the total to INR 28.71 crore. According to the production house, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha minted INR 17.10 crore on day 2. Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar's film has come as a relief for the industry as the first half of 2017 even after having Salman Khan's Tubelight and Shah Rukh Khan's Jab Harry Met Sejal didn't do any spark.
Considering the positive word of mouth, Toilet Ek Prem Katha is likely to set the cash registers ringing over the next few days. It will be interesting to see how much the film mints on its first weekend and how much will it drop on its first Monday.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was made on a budget of INR 18-22 crore. The movie deals with the menace of open defecation and is based on a real life incident wherein a woman left her husband after finding out that there was no toilet in their house.
The movie has been helmed by Shree Narayan Singh. This is the first time Akshay collaborated with Bhumi.
Earlier, talking about the issue of open defecation, Akshay said, "Kids are the ones who are most affected due to open defecation as they are so vulnerable to diseases. Through my movie, I am urging each Indian household to build toilets to keep their children healthy and happy," while adding that "I am glad to join Shiva who has himself been a behavioural change agent and kids' favourite whiz kid to spread my message and together drive change."
