Paltan, Laila Majnu, Gali Guleiyan Box Office Predictions Day 1: Who will score the highest?
We have Paltan, Laila Majnu and Gali Guleiyan this Friday. We got in touch with Girish Johar to know who will exactly win the race amongst these three films at the box office. Read to know more.
This Friday - from Arjun Rampal and Sonu Sood starrer Paltan to Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Gali Guleiyan, movie buffs have quite a few options to which film they can opt for. Paltan is based on the Nathu La military clashes of 1967 which took place along the Sikkim border. The film tells the story of the Indian armed forces facing off in an intense battle to ward off Chinese infiltration. Paltan stars Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Harshvardhan Rane and Siddhanth Kapoor among others.
Talking of Laila Majnu, the makers of the film have brought back the classic love story of Laila Manju once again on the big screen with a contemporary setup in the scenic beauty of Kashmir. It’s a joint venture of Imtiaz’s brother Sajid Ali, Imtiaz and Ekta Kapoor. The movie has got mixed reviews from the audience.
Dipesh Jain's Gali Guleiyan dismantles the popular notion of Old Delhi as ever-bursting with vibrant colours and textures, instead of creating an atmosphere of claustrophobia with its use of the maze-like bylines of Chandni Chowk. Manoj, who won the Best Actor award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for his role in the film, features in a heart-wrenching portrayal of a man trapped within the walls and alleys of old Delhi and his own mind, and it is about how he attempts to break free to find a human connection.
Well, who will win the race at the office?
We got in touch with Girish Johar (Film & Trade Business Analyst) and he told us, "So see what has happened is that of Paltan, Laila Majnu and Gali Guleiyan, none has got a good start. Whereas, The Nun has got 40% start in all the four languages. I think it's going to be a horror weekend again. The top slot will be fought between The Nun and Stree. Talking of box office figures for day 1, it will be around 50-70 lakhs for Laila Majnu and Gali Guleiyan. For Paltan, it would be around 1 crore mark and might pick up in the evening the shows."
