The film stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles. Padmaavat has opened to good paid previews which was in 3D screens.
The film earned INR 4 crore in the paid previews. The protests are still going on in various parts like Rajasthan, Bihar, UP and Haryana. It will be interesting to see how the film will fare today as the shows will run throughout the day.
Before the release, we got in touch with trade gurus to know how will the film fare on day 1. Aksaye Rathi told us, "Looking at the anticipation around the film, I am pretty sure the collections would be in tune to around INR 20 crore. Despite the film would not get the screens in many areas, I am still very confident that film will get good numbers. I am sure the figures will be extraordinary throughout the week. The status advance booking is amazing in 3D and IMAX properties. Well, yes the controversy has affected the film especially in places like Rajasthan. The screen count of the film is 3800 plus."
"Advance booking is really good in the regions - Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. If you ask me about the first-day figures, it's really difficult as till now - there's not much that I know about the screen count. It will be cleared by tomorrow. The controversy around the film has affected the film and when you don't have screens in places like MP, Haryana, Gujarat and Rajasthan - it's a little difficult. Talking about figures, I can say the film would earn INR 12 crore to INR 15 crore," said Atul Mohan.
