Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat starring Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh finally hit the screens on January 25, this year, after a few jerks. The film is doing well at the box office and in its one week of release, Padmaavat has earned INR 155 crore in the domestic market.
According to a leading trade site, Padmaavat collected INR 149.50 crore at the box office. When Sanjay Leela Bhansali was asked about how the film continues to go through a lot of strife, he told a leading daily, "There are creative angels who come and bless such films. There is some divine energy that says this is the way it should be. It is fascinating to go with the flow. If you are supposed to face the attacks or these kinds of protests that we have gone through, it’s a part of the film’s destiny."
He added, "All I can say is that it just makes you stronger and wants you to make the movie better. When your whole being is at stake and you feel that you are going to perish, you give the thing on hand your best shot. Then things unfold in a way. So, from January 27, 2017, when we were attacked in Jaipur to January 25 this year when the film released, it has been one whole year of strife. I cannot describe all that my team and I went through."
Deepika Padukone played the titular role and Ranveer was seen as Alauddin Khilji. Shahid who essayed the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in the movie finally got an entry into the 100-crore club.
