Mulk starring Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Prateik Babbar, Rajat Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana and Manoj Pahwa has released today. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the courtroom drama is a story of a Muslim family fighting for its self-respect, dignity and honour as they are accused of having connections in terrorist activities. Taapsee Pannu and Ashutosh Rana play the role of lawyers in the film. Taapsee plays the lawyer helping Rishi Kapoor's family reclaim their lost honour and prove that they aren't wrong.
Today, along with Mulk, two other films have released. One is Karwaan (directed by Akarsh Khurana) starring Dulquer Salmaan, Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar and another is Fanney Khan (helmed by Atul Manjrekar) that has Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. All the three films are of different genres and have created equal buzz among the audience. Hence, it will be interesting to see how much Mulk manages to collect at the box office on the first day of its release.

6:00 PM: As reported by Box Office India, Rishi Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu starrer Mulk might make less than Rs 1 crore on its first day. However, the first day collection for this courtroom drama will also depend on the evening occupancy. But the report state that it won't add much to the numbers.
3:00 PM: Mulk and Karwaan have opened to poor occupancy compared to Fanney Khan. It's being said that it will be difficult for Mulk to make a collection of Rs 2 crore at the box office today.
#Mulk & #Karwaan occupancy in noon shows is extremely poor as both the film registering mere 8-10% occupancy. #FanneyKhan leads but considering the star cast of the film occupancy is poor. 2 cr opening is also looking tough for mulk & karwaan.Fanney may surpass 2 cr today.
1:30 PM - Trade analyst Girish Johar said that if he has to place his money to any film among the three releases today, he will place it on Mulk. He states, "Whatever they are trying to convey is a strong message and it is a strong content film backed by deadly performances by Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu and Ashutosh Rana. In my opinion, the film might earn Rs 2 crore on its first day."
