Manikarnika Box Office Collection Day 1: One of the most anticipated films of the year, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, has finally hit the screens yesterday. Despite all the hurdles and controversies, Kangana Ranaut’s film is off to a great start. Manikarnika, which released in 3,000 screens across the country, has raked in Rs 8.75 crores at the domestic market. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the opening day collections. He tweeted, “#Manikarnika picked up towards evening, after an ordinary/dull start in morning... #RepublicDay holiday [today] should witness a big turnaround... Sure, there’s appreciation, but it has to convert into footfalls... Fri ₹ 8.75 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu.”

Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi revolves around Rani Laxmibai, who fought against the East India Company and the British to prevent her kingdom of Jhansi from being conquered. The film marked the big screen debut of television actress Ankita Lokhande, who was seen playing Jhalkaribai, a soldier who rose through the ranks in Rani Laxmibai's army to become a prominent advisor. The film has been appreciated by the mass but has opened to mixed reviews by the critics.

In an interview with us, Kangana Ranaut was asked about working as a director for the film, and she revealed that this is not the first time she worked behind the camera. "This is not my first experience as far as supervising the edit or even directing a film is concerned. I was 23 or 24 when I directed my first film. It was a 10-minute short film that I had shot with an international crew. Also at that time, I was struggling with small roles in films like Double Dhamaal (2011). So I've been a director since then. Be it direction, writing or editing, I've already done it in the past," said the actress.
