The Lion King Box Office India: Disney movie records 3rd BIGGEST opening Hollywood movie of all time

The Lion King released over the weekend. The movie was released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in India. The movie has recorded a jaw-dropping box office collections in its opening weekend.

The lion has roared and the audiences in India have paid attention. The Lion King released over the weekend. The Disney live-action remake was released in India in four languages. The movie's international version was dubbed in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil and released along with the original English version in India. And boy, it has worked wonders. The movie released with mixed reviews. But that hasn't impacted the box office collection in India. According to Box Office India, The Lion King collected a nett box office collection of Rs 54 crore over the opening weekend in India. 

The Jon Favreau directorial collected Rs 24 crore on Day 3 in India which added to the movie's total opening weekend collection. The Lion King collected Rs 11 crore on its opening day and witnessed an increase on Day 2 as the movie collected Rs 19 crore. Given these box office collections, The Lion King has beaten Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home to become the second-highest-grossing movie of 2019. 

Captain Marvel recorded an opening box office collection of Rs 40.71 crore. Spider-Man: Far From Home collected a four-day opening weekend collection of Rs Rs 44.75 crore. Apart from the second biggest opening weekend for the Hollywood movie this year, The Lion King has recorded the third biggest opener for a Hollywood movie in India. Avengers: Endgame collected an opening weekend collection of Rs 158.65 crore this April. The second spot is taken by Avengers: Infinity War with a collection of Rs 94.30 crore in 2018. 


The international star cast of the movie includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, James Earl Jones as Simba's father Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor voices Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi and JD McCrary voices the young cub Simba.
