Kabir Singh Box Office Collection Day 16: Shahid Kapoor starrer unstoppable; Earns a massive third Saturday
Shahid Kapoor must be celebrating for Kabir Singh's box office collection are the best numbers of his career. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial is putting up an impressive show at the box office.
Let's face it, 2019 is the year of Shahid Kapoor. The actor is probably on cloud 9 after Kabir Singh was deemed as a blockbuster. The June release is the official remake of the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. Kabir Singh is into its third weekend and boy, there is no stopping this movie. Although the movie stood against Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios first movie since Avengers: Endgame, it managed to hold a stand against the Tom Holland starrer and how!
As per Box Office India, Kabir Singh registered another Rs 7 crore on its third Saturday at the box office. It is the top-grossing movie in many circuits already. That's not all! Kabir Singh has also surpassed the collections of Avengers: Endgame is many pockets, the site reports. This includes CP Berar, CI and Bihar. "The numbers in these circuits are just unthinkable for a Shahid Kapoor film as a Hindi film would normally need some star power to hit numbers like 13 crore nett in CP Berar and 9 crore nett in CI and still going strong," the report reveals. With the current pace, Kabir Singh could register another Rs 20 crore plus by the end of the third weekend. As of now, Kabir Singh has earned Rs 223 crores.
Kabir Singh has racked up controversies following its release. The movie was criticised for glorifying misogyny. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga took the controversy a notch higher when he justified Kabir's act in the movie. In an interview with Anupama Chopra of Film Companion, the director deemed the criticism "pseudo." He said, "I feel it's pseudo because...you know...when you're deeply in love, deeply connected with a woman and vice versa, there's a lot of honesty in it. And if you don't have that physical demonstration of...if you don't have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don't see anything there."
