The verdict is out and Varun Dhawan's film Judwaa 2 has come out shining at the box office. On the very opening day, the film has minted INR 15.55 crore at the ticket windows. Interestingly, the film has become the third highest opening day Bollywood grosser of 2017 after  Salman Khan's Tubelight and Raees. It's also the highest opening day grosser for Varun.

While Salman Khan's Tubelight earned INR 20.75 crore on its opening day, Shah Rukh Khan's Raees collected INR 20.42 crore on Day 1. Going by the buzz before the release, it was expected that Varun's film would do well on Day 1. Apart from Varun, the film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles.  The movie directed by David Dhawan is a sequel to the 1997 comedy Judwaa which starred Salman Khan in a double role alongside Karisma Kapoor and Rambha.

Girish Johar (Film Trade Analyst), befor the release, had told us, "The advance ticket sales and the queries for Judwaa 2 are quite outstanding and it has generated quite a lot of buzz. People are very excited to watch the film. They all believe it's a family entertainer and the Judwaa brand has done quite well. It's going to take a very good start at the box office. I expect the film to take up a minimum of INR 15 crore+ start on Day 1 which is a huge number considering the fact that it is a non-holiday. It has an extended holiday weekend with October 2 being a holiday on Monday, and so it will have a very good and long weekend at the box office. The four-day long weekend collections should definitely be around INR 65 crore."

Atul Mohan (Trade Analyst) had also added, "The advance booking is tremendous not only in India but overseas also. In terms of the opening day collections and looking at the trends, it should be INR 15 crore approx. The 4-day long weekend in numbers, we should be looking at somewhere between INR 75-80 crore."
