Gold Box Office Collection LIVE Updates: Akshay Kumar's film starts on a solid note

This year's Independence Day, Akshay Kumar, is back with one more patriotic film, Gold. Directed by Reema Kagti, Gold revolves around independent India's first Olympic gold win after attaining freedom from the British rule - a feat achieved by the Indian men's hockey team in 1948 at the 14th London Olympiad. Gold has released in 3050 screens and has high bets from the advance collections. Fans had been waiting to see Akshay Kumar playing the role of Tapan Das in Gold. 

Akshay Kumar has a solid track record when it comes to Independence Day and this time is no different. Gold has an ensemble cast that includes Mouni Roy, who plays Akshay aka Tapan's wife and actors Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal as hockey players. Gold is clashing with John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Satyameva Jayate on Wednesday

6:00 PM

Gold did well in the circuits of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and Odhisa while Satyameva Jayate did good in the areas of Jaipur, Lucknow and Patna.

Akshay Kumar's Gold has surpassed Salman Khan's Race 3 in terms of the first day box office occupany rate. Take a look at the list: 

1. Baaghi 2 - 57.5 per cent (3500 screens)

2. Sanju - 55 per cent (4200 screens)

3. Gold - 52.5 per cent (3050 screens)

4. Race 3 - 50 per cent (4300 screens)

5. Padmaavat - 42.5 per cent (3750 screens)

5. Satyameva Jayate - 42.5 per cent (2500 screens apprx)

6. Veere Di Wedding - 35 per cent (2200 screens)

7. Raazi - 30 per cent (1800 screens)

8. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety - 27.5 per cent (1650 screens)

9. Pad Man - 22.5 per cent (2700 screens)

9. Hichki - 22.5 per cent (975 screens)

10. Raid - 20 per cent (3250 screens)

The box office occupancy rates are out. Gold has got the third rank in terms of first day box occupancy rate and it's around 55%. Satyameva Jayate has got the fifth spot and has raked in 45% occupancy rate in the morning shows.

As per morning collections, Gold is leading the pack. It's more and less leading all over the country. Satyameva Jayate also had a good occupancy rate in the morning shows, reports BOI. They are almost similar as of now. We need to wait for the officiial figures.

According to Box Office India, Gold took a good advance as it collected over Rs 13 crore nett advance collections before release. It will be the highest for an Akshay Kumar film as it has taken over the box office collection of Housefull 3, Rustom and Toilet Ek Prem Katha.

Trade Analyst Girish Johar told Indian Express, "The big holiday of Independence Day will help Gold rake in moolah on day one. Releasing in over 2700 screens, the movie is expected to earn Rs 20 crore on Wednesday. The Akshay Kumar factor and the patriotic feel that is promoted well through the songs and trailer of the film will attract movie buffs to theatres."
