Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's Tiger Zinda Hai is all set to release on Friday i.e December 22.
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's Tiger Zinda Hai is all set to release on Friday i.e December 22, 2017. Fans have been waiting for the film with bated breath. Trade experts are banking on the film as 2017 has not been a great year in terms of box office numbers. We have had big banner films like Tubelight, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Jagga Jagoos that failed to deliver as averse to the expectations.
We got in touch with trade experts and asked for their take on the first-day collection. But before that, let's get into maths of the budget:
Cost of Production: INR 140 crore (Without Salman's remuneration)
Digital Rights: INR 65 crore
Satellite Rights: INR 50 crore
First Day Collection: INR 30 crore (Approx)
Screen Count: 4500 (Approx)
Here's what trade experts have to say:
What about the first day opening figures?
Akshaye Rathi
It will be approximately INR 35 crores. Salman Khan takes the satellite rights of the film which is INR 50 crore. His fees aren't paid by the producer anymore. Producer invests to recover the theatrical rights. Coming back to first day BO numbers, it will be 35 plus and it's a massive number. What else you can expect from a massive star like Salman.
Atul Mohan
I think it should be between INR 25-30 crore. The budget of the film is INR 140 crore. Talking of Salman's remuneration, he has the whole of satellite rights and 33% share of the profit that the film will earn.
Will Tiger Zinda Hai overtake Bajrangi Bhaijaan's box office record?
Akshaye Rathi
There's a great chance of overtaking Bajrangi Bhaijaan's figures. But let me tell you, Bajrangi Bhaijaan unlike this one wasn't a massy film. This one typically falls under the category of a Salman Khan film. It's out and out actioner and entertainer.
Atul Mohan
That has to be seen - it depends on how the content is accepted by the audience. Both are different movies. Bajrangi Bhaijaan is emotional and even today if it comes on satellite, we would love to watch it. This one is totally actioner. It's a Salman Khan action movie. Bajrangi Bhaijaan had a universal appeal.
Will Tiger Zinda Hai be a relief for a terrible 2017 in terms of box office numbers?
Akshaye Rathi
2017 has been terrible for box office leaving apart films like Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion and Jolly LLB 2 - nothing has done that well. The year has been a bad year for trade overall and the onus is on Tiger Zinda Hai to bail the fraternity out of the distressing situation.
Atul Mohan
2017 has been a very disappointing year for the box office and even big names couldn't do much to save the situation and were unable to deliver. The scorecard is a little because of Baahubali 2 - had it been there, it would have been worse. We have huge expectations from Salman's Tiger Zinda Hai to bail us out. We were also expecting Padmavati to release, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.
