Dhadak Box Office Collection: Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter's film crosses the 50-crore mark
Shashank Khaitan's latest release Dhadak, that stars Bollywood newbies Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, has completed one week in theatres since its release on 20 July.
Shashank Khaitan's Dhadak, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, is creating a stir at the box office. The film, which is an official adaptation of the Marathi hit Sairat, started on a good note with Rs 8.50 crore, and overtook the first-day collection of Student Of The Year to become the highest opening Bollywood film featuring newcomers.
Dhadak has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark. The film’s total collection now stands at Rs 51.56 crore. Janhvi, daughter of late actor Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, plays a girl belonging to an influential, upper-caste family based in Udaipur. Her co-star Ishaan Khatter, who made his debut with Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds, plays her star-crossed lover who belongs to a lower caste.
Talking about the success of Dhadak, Janhvi’s father and filmmaker Boney Kapoor recently said in a statement that he was somewhere sure that the film would do well.
Apoorva Mehta, CEO, Dharma Productions, also expressed his happiness on the film’s success and said, “The movie, in just its 3-day-run at the box office, has set new benchmarks for newcomers. And, what is more heartening is the love these newcomers, Janhvi and Ishaan are getting from heartland India.”
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak tells the story of two star-crossed lovers, Parthavi Singh (Janhvi Kapoor) and Madhukar Bagla (Ishaan Khatter), who belong to different castes.
