Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet starrer rom-com De De Pyaar De enjoyed a healthy week at the box office. The film had a dull opening but managed to buck up over the weekend. However, it took a dip again as Monday came upon and according to reports the drop on Thursday was almost 20%. But despite the dip and the Lok Sabha election results, De De Pyaar De successfully collected nearly 57 crore net.
The Box Office India report read: “The second Friday is all important and it due to this Thursday drop it cannot afford to drop a lot if the film is to emerge a HIT. The business and trend of the film is similar to Raid, the cost is also similar to Raid with the UK subsidy compensating for a higher production budget due to overseas shot film.”
Akiv Ali’s directorial debut De De Pyaar De is a unique take on relationships with an age gap. Ashish, played by Ajay Devgn, is a 50 year old rich businessman who falls in love with 26 year old Ayesha, played by Rakul Preet Singh. He takes her home to introduce her to his family who frowns upon the relationship. Things get complicated when Ashish’s ex-wife Manju, played by Tabu, comes into the picture.
