Box Office Report: Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2 becomes the highest grosser of 2017; beats Shah Rukh Khan's Raees
Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2 surpasses Shah Rukh Khan's Raees at the domestic market.
Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez's Judwaa 2 has done outstanding business at the box office. Judwaa 2 sees Varun bringing back to celluloid the iconic characters Raja and Prem, previously portrayed by Salman Khan in Judwaa, which was also directed by David Dhawan.
The film has finally surpassed the lifetime collection of Shah Rukh Khan's Raees at the domestic market. Judwaa 2 has now emerged as the highest grossing movie of 2017. The movie collected INR 63 Lacs in its fourth weekend taking the total collection to INR 137.81 crore nett, surpassing the lifetime figures of Raees (INR 137.51 crore nett) at the box office in India.
"I genuinely hope I can make people laugh and smile and just enjoy. We need to learn to laugh at ourselves and not be scared of judgment. So I did this film to do that this is an Indian genre, not something influenced by the West," Varun shared a day before the release of the film.
Though the movie received mixed reviews from the critics, the audiences have enjoyed the movie and were left nostalgic while watching Judwaa 2.
