Box Office Report: Fukrey Returns enters the 100-crore club
Fukrey Returns made around INR 101.78 crore - INR 93.02 crore gross coming in from the domestic market and INR 8.76 crore gross from the overseas markets. The film is a sequel to 2013’s Fukrey.
Fukrey Returns has been doing well at the box office. The film is now a part of the 100-crore club. The film has managed to garner worldwide collections of INR 101.78 crore (INR 93.02 crore gross coming in from the domestic market and INR 8.76 crore gross from the overseas markets).
This Mrighdeep Singh Lamba directorial is the sequel to 2013’s Fukrey, which started slow, but with strong word-of-mouth became a sleeper hit. But, with Fukrey Returns, the makers can take a backseat and relax as the franchise has carved a niche for it and people are appreciating the content of the sequel. The film stars Richa Chadha, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal and Manjot Singh in the lead roles.
Talking about it, Richa said, "I am really thrilled. The team is overjoyed. I am happiest for my director Mrig because he deserves this. Happy to see the film being loved so extensively and to see everyone going out in numbers to see and enjoy the film."
Ali Fazal stated,"I had a feeling and I remember telling a friend - we’re a part of a change. Everyone one of us in this film.. the 100 crore mark is just a small milestone for the history books and the soothsayers of Bollywood. To the team of excel and my brilliant producers Ritesh and Farhan sir, I thank them for always being there for us."
We also got in touch with Richa aka Bholi Punjaban to know her reaction to the successful run of the film. To which she said, "It's pretty good for a film of this level. I am hoping we keep doing better and better. We all are excited and happy about it. The film has become famous in Delhi, Punjab and surprisingly, even in Mumbai. So, the whole team is overjoyed. In prime time, the theatres are fully booked, so I am pretty thrilled about."
She also added, "I think what's happening is, to be honest, that world is also depressed and they want to laugh. When there is a film which has a lot of fun elements and lots of laughter doses, people like it. Even our film after having a political angle, people appreciated it."
