Box Office Report: Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor's 102 Not Out keeps a steady pace
Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor have come together for Umesh Shukla's 102 Not Out. The actors have reunited onscreen after 27 years for a film.
Umesh Shukla's comedy-drama 102 Not Out, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, has been appreciated by both the viewers and critics. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of a 102-year-old and Rishi Kapoor is the son aged 75. While Bachchan’s character Dattatraya is full of life, Kapoor’s character Babulal feels that he is too old to live his life carefree.
The film earned Rs 5.32 crore on its opening day. On Saturday, the film collected Rs 5.53 crore. 102 Not Out showed growth on Sunday and it minted Rs 7.60 crore. In total, the film has earned Rs 16.65 crore in three days of its release.
102 Not Out is facing competition from two films - Avengers: Infinity War and Omerta. The film has brought back the legendary duo of Big B and Rishi Kapoor together onscreen after a gap of nearly twenty-seven years. The film is based on a Gujarati play by the same name, written by Saumya Joshi.
In an interview with DNA, Big B was asked how was his experience of working with Rishi Kapoor after 27 years, he answered, "It’s always good. We’ve done so many iconic films (Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb and Coolie, etc) together. It’s not as though he was ever out of sight or out of mind. The two of us have been around in the industry, he’s also a member of the family now. My daughter (Shweta Bachchan Nanda) is married into his (Kapoor-Nanda) family. So, it’s not like a lost-and-found story. It isn’t as if we just met after 27 years. He’s an accomplished artiste; the choice of him playing the other role was good. Working with him is always a joy."
On the other hand, about being a part of the film Rishi Kapoor had earlier said, "I’m finally getting to play characters and not just be Rishi Kapoor."
102 Not Out released on May 4, 2018.
