Box Office Collection: Gold and Satyameva Jayate show a considerable drop on Thursday in the domestic market
Akshay Kumar's Gold and John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate have had a fall at the box office on day 2 of its release. Check out the box office figures.
Akshay Kumar's Gold and John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate released on August 15 and both the films did exceedingly well on its opening day. While Gold earned Rs 25.25 crore on its day 1, Satyameva Jayate raked in 18.50 crore on first day of its release. Now, the second day box office figures are out. According to Box Office India, both the films have had a fall at the box office in the domestic market.
On Day 2, a working Thursday, Gold collected 8 crore which takes the total to Rs 33 crore approx. Satyameva Jayate earned Rs 7.50 crore on the second day of its release taking the total to Rs 26 crore approx. Well, yesterday we lost our former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and today was his funeral. This might be one of the reasons of this major drop.
Yesterday, trade expert Akhshaye had told us that both the films will have a drop. He had said, "There will be, obviously, a significant drop in the collections of both the films, considering it was a national holiday and they do give the market a big boost. Today is working Thursday and you won't see those kinds of numbers. But, having said that, trends across the exhibition are pretty set. Talking of single screens, it's Satyameva Jayate all the way. If you look at the urban sectors and multiplexes, it's Gold that has been dominating. Both the films are resonating a certain kind of audience."
"One thing that needs to be looked at while comparing both the films, you see to see the screens. Gold has got around 3050 screens while Satyameva Jayate has got around 2600 screens. In terms of the division of shows, you see Satyameva has got a stronghold. Both the film has done exceedingly well and will continue to do as we have Parsi New Year, Rakshabandhan and a Sunday falling in between. Considering all of that, they will get good figures at the end of their box office run." he had added.
