Batti Gul Meter Chalu Weekend Box Office Collection: Shahid Kapoor's film fails to attract the audience
Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu released last Friday. Check out the film's weekend box office collection.
Shahid Kapoor is fighting for electricity in his latest film Batti Gul Meter Chalu. Batti Gul also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Divyendu Sharma and Yami Gautam. The film is helmed by Shree Narayan Singh whose last film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was about sanitation problems in rural India. Toilet starred Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. Coming to BGMC, the story is set in Tehri in Uttarakhand where people are cheated with huge electricity bills but no good electricity connection.
The film released on Friday, September 21 alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Manto. Both the films are receiving a good response at the box office. The trailer of the film looked quite interesting and hence, it was expected that this Shahid starrer will make it big at the box office. However, despite having a decent weekend, the film has not made any great mark at the box office so far. As reported by Box Office India, on its first day, Batti Gul Meter Chalu made a collection of Rs 6.25 crore at the box office. On Saturday, the BO collection at the domestic market was Rs 7.25 crore and on Sunday, the growth was quite minimal of Rs 8 crore at approx. Thus, the total weekend collection of Batti Gul Meter Chalu is Rs 21.50 crore approx which isn't quite good.
Even Manto isn't performing well at the box office despite the positive reviews. Manmarziyaan, which released on September 14 is also showing hardly any growth in figures. However, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree, which released on August 31, is still strong at the box office. As reported by BOI, the film's collection so far is Rs 116 crore.
