Baazaar Box Office Collection: Saif Ali Khan starrer fails to attract audience to the theatres on Day 1
Saif Ali Khan’s Baazaar hit the screens yesterday and well, it hasn’t opened to good numbers. The film failed to attract the audience to the theatres on Day 1.
After the successful Sacred Games, viewers had high expectations from Saif Ali Khan’s Baazaar. Fans were waiting to see Saif as a ruthless business tycoon for whom money is the only thing and emotions take a back seat. The movie hit the screens yesterday and well, it hasn’t opened to good numbers. The film failed to attract the audience to the theatres on Day 1. The Saif Ali Khan film has earned Rs 3.07 crore on its opening day. The film is facing stiff competition from Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Badhaai Ho.
Baazaar revolves around Rizwan Ahmed (Rohan Mehra), a young graduate from Allahabad University, who arrives in Mumbai to impress his role model Shakun Kothari (Saif Ali Khan). Things go awry between the two when Rizwan tries to enter Shakun’s territory. The movie has got mixed response from the critics. Some critics went on to say that even Saif cannot save this film. The budget of the film is reportedly around Rs 40 crores. Let’s see if the film can break it and come in the safer zone in the coming week.

Despite being the only big release this week, Baazaar has failed to get the cash floating. Sharman Joshi’s Kaashi couldn’t connect to the audience either. When we connected with Girish Johar (Film Business and Trade expert), he had told us, "The buzz is pretty much average right now. With Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun doing quite well, I somehow feel that the film should earn anywhere between 2 to 2.5 crores on the first day.”
He further added that “How the movie performs during the weekend and the evening shows will depend upon the word of mouth.”
