Avengers: Endgame was re-released over the weekend. The Marvel blockbuster, which shattered all box office records starting April, was re-released with new footage featuring a new introduction from Anthony Russo, an unfinished deleted scene featuring Hulk and a tease for Spider-Man: Far From Home. The re-release was done in the hope that Avengers: Endgame will surpass Avatar's worldwide box office collection to become the highest grossing movie of all-time. However, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have to wait a little longer for the record to be broken. As per box office reports from the weekend, the Marvel movie still needs a sizable amount to beat the James Cameron directorial.

As per Variety, Avengers: Endgame collected $5.5 million over its 10th weekend at the box office aka the first weekend of its re-release. The publication notes that the Russo Brothers directorial witnessed a 200% increase in sales as compared to its previous outing. The biggest drawing factor being the deleted scene. Although it was revealed the deleted scene would revolve around Hulk, Avengers: Endgame fans still walked in to find out how the directors and Marvel Studios would add the cherry on top to the Marvel-lous movie. Avengers: Endgame's total worldwide box office collection now stands at $2.76 billion worldwide. The film's box office collection domestically stands at $841 million in North America and $1.92 billion globally.

Despite the good collections, Avengers: Endgame has quite a distance to walk through before it could beat Avatar and set a new record. The Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo starrer lags behind by $26 million. Just a reminder, Avatar collected a whopping $2.78 billion (after re-release) and topped the highest grossing movies of all-time list. Do you think Avengers: Endgame will beat Avatar to dethrone the James Cameron directorial as the highest grossing movie of all-time?
