Jagga Jasoos Box Office Collection: Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's film fuses at the ticket windows on 1st Monday
Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's film Jagga Jasoos fails to pass the Monday test.
After much ado, Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor's Jagga Jasoos has finally hit the screens and has opened to mixed reviews. The film showed a big drop on first Monday and could manage to earn only INR 3.75 crore. In total, Jagga Jasoos has earned INR 35.5 crore at the box office in four days of its release. The film mainly grossed in the five metropolitan cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
In an event, Ranbir was asked will he pay back the distributors if the film tanks at the box office? Ranbir said, "Personally, if my film fails and I am making money out of it, then I will pay back the distributors." Elaborating more on it, he said that 'it is a healthy exercise' and his grandfather followed a similar trend.
"It has been going on since my grandfather's (Raj Kapoor) time in the 1950s. The style of making films where everyone makes money, not just the producers but also distributors and exhibitors. It is a healthy exercise. If someone loses money on something and you have made money out of it, it's good to compensate," added Ranbir.
"Like when Mera Naam Joker released, distributors incurred losses. So when Bobby released, my grandfather gave a bigger share to the distributors than the exhibitors," he added.
Coming to Katrina Kaif, we asked her about the rumours of Jagga Jasoos getting shelved. To which she said, "I think the thought of shelving the movie came not primarily due to the time and stresses on the movie, but due to other factors. The three years when it was made, it is not just the film that saw a hard time, there were many people who saw the hard times. The journey was a tumultuous one but the thought of shelving didn't come out of lack of belief or faith. It came due to a lot of strife and stress around us. Sometimes it can get a bit much for anyone to take. It came for a short period of time. It came because of the other stress around."
