Jagga Jasoos Box Office Report: Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's film shows growth on Day 2
Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's Jagga Jasoos picks up at the box office.
Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos finally hit the theatres on Friday - July 14, 2017. Helmed by Anurag Basu, the movie released amidst huge hype- it took the film a long three and half years to complete. The film got mixed reviews from the critics and audience.
The film, on Friday or the opening day, earned INR 8.25 crore. On Saturday, the film showed a growth of 30% and collected INR 11 crore. In total, the film has minted INR 19.25 crore. It'll be interesting to see how much the film earns today and on Monday. The film did the best business in Mumbai city and Bangalore. The opening is the seventh best of this year. Barfi which was also directed by Anurag Basu starring Ranbir had opened to a similar figure of INR 8.18 crore nett.
In an event, Ranbir was asked will he pay back the distributors if the film tanks at the box office? Ranbir said, "Personally, if my film fails and I am making money out of it, then I will pay back the distributors." Elaborating more on it, he said that 'it is a healthy exercise' and his grandfather followed a similar trend.
"It has been going on since my grandfather's (Raj Kapoor) time in the 1950s. The style of making films where everyone makes money, not just the producers but also distributors and exhibitors. It is a healthy exercise. If someone loses money on something and you have made money out of it, it's good to compensate," added Ranbir.
"Like when Mera Naam Joker released, distributors incurred losses. So when Bobby released, my grandfather gave a bigger share to the distributors than the exhibitors," he added.
