Tubelight Box Office Collection: Salman Khan's film is still battling at the ticket windows
Salman Khan's Tubelight has not been able to make a mark at the box office.
Salman Khan's Tubelight didn't do well at the box office and by now we all know the fact. Salman played the role of Laxman - a manchild - but didn't really hold the audience's attention span for a longer period. Just 10 mins into the movie, you get habitual of seeing Salman crying over almost everything. Well, it was different from what we have seen Salman Khan portray on screen.
It has been 10 days and the film has only earned INR 110.07 crore in total. Tubelight opened to mixed reviews from both the critics and viewers. The movie is struggling at the domestic market which is a tad bit shocking.
Talking about the worldwide collection, the film could only touch the 200-crore mark which is actually not expected from the Dabangg Khan. We are six months into the year and no Bollywood film for that matter has made the mark at the box office - be it Shah Rukh Khan's Raees or Salman's Tubelight.
During a recent interaction with the media at an event, Salman was asked about the low rating by the critics. He said, "The critics were really good. I was expecting minus 3 and minus 4 but they gave 1, 1.5 apparently, so I am very pleased, As per reports, people are saying they can not see Bhai (Salman) crying. So I asked, are they (audience) laughing and the answer was “no, they are crying”. So I said don’t worry about it."
He further added, "As it is an Eid release, people have preconceived notions and plans to throw coins, sing and dance at the cinema hall. So they have gone to watch a certain film but get to watch another film. This film is not of a kind which you watch with your buddies as you will not get an opportunity to dance or have fun. It is a very emotional film. Even an emotionless, stone hearted person will get tears in his eyes. So this is an emotional film to be seen with parents, grandparents and the entire family.”
