Salman Khan's latest Eid release Tubelight has hit the theatres this Friday. The Kabir Khan directorial has Salman playing the character of Laxman, who's a man-child. The film opened to mixed reviews by both the critics and audience. It's not a usual Salman Khan film, it has a lot of emotional sequences to offer and which is a little 'hatke' for Salman to portray onscreen.

Tubelight earned INR 19.09 crore on Day 4 which was relatively less than it was expected from a Salman film on an Eid holiday. The film, in total, earned INR 83.79 crore at the box office and is short of INR 16.21 crore. For a Salman film, it's a tad bit shocking as Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan which were Eid releases had crossed the 100-crore mark within three days of its release.

During a recent interaction with the media at an event, Salman was asked about the low rating by the critics. He said, "The critics were really good. I was expecting minus 3 and minus 4 but they gave 1, 1.5 apparently, so I am very pleased, As per reports, people are saying they can not see Bhai (Salman) crying. So I asked, are they (audience) laughing and the answer was “no, they are crying”. So I said don’t worry about it."

He further added, "As it is an Eid release, people have preconceived notions and plans to throw coins, sing and dance at the cinema hall. So they have gone to watch a certain film but get to watch another film. This film is not of a kind which you watch with your buddies as you will not get an opportunity to dance or have fun. It is a very emotional film. Even an emotionless, stone hearted person will get tears in his eyes. So this is an emotional film to be seen with parents, grandparents and the entire family.”
